Thusanang project
The project was established in 1993. Funded by Church of Sweden through ELCZ.

The motto for Thusanang is“put your faith into action”1stTess.1-3.

It is the diaconal arm of the ELCZ in the Western Diocese, Southern Deanary.

Thusanang is a community based program, responding to need for HIV and AIDS education and mitigation in the communities.

The program has 3 thematic areas:

HBC – Home Based Care

OVC – Care for orphans and Vulnerable Children

IEC- Information , education and communication about HIV and AIDS issues.

The program is based on voluntarism; In 2012 Thusanang had 220 Active HBC volunteers working in 14 wards. 11 wards in  inGwanda South district and 3 wards in  Beitbridge district.

ELCZ pastors and Deacons are taking active part in workshops and are facilitators in many of the Thusanang meetings, both in Church settings and in the communities.

The program had 1181 patients in register at the end of January 2012.

During 2012 HBC volunteers carried our 8667 home visits.

26 OVC vas supported with school fees, uniforms and stationaries.

23 Child headed households were visited and supported in different ways.

30 community meetings were held.
